What is a pick face?
A pick face is a storage location that pickers take stock from directly, usually at an easy height, and that is refilled from reserve stock.

Why warehouses use pick faces
Picking from full pallets on high rack levels needs a forklift for every order. A pick face puts a working quantity of each item within reach on the ground or first level.
The rest of the stock waits in reserve locations and comes down when the pick face runs low.
Worked example
In this example, item C-310 sells about 200 eaches a day. Its pick face has a minimum of 60 and a maximum of 240.
After the morning picks it holds 50, which is below the minimum. The system creates a replenishment task to bring 190 eaches down from reserve, filling it back to 240.
How Waresify handles it
Every Waresify location has a role, pick face or reserve. On racks drawn in the layout builder, a pick face levels setting decides which levels are pick faces.
The replenishment module, on every plan, watches pick faces against their minimum and maximum and creates the tasks to refill them.
Questions
Which items should get a pick face?
Items picked often in less than full-pallet quantities. Slow movers and full-pallet orders can be picked straight from reserve.
How do I set the minimum?
Cover the demand expected while a replenishment task is waiting and in progress. If refills take two hours and you pick 25 an hour, a minimum of about 50 is a starting point.
