Lot Tracking
Lot tracking ties every unit of stock to the production batch it came from. Waresify records the lot number, expiry date and supplier lot reference when goods are received, keeps the lot on every stock movement, and allocates the lot with the earliest expiry date first when orders are picked.

How lot tracking works in Waresify
With the module switched on, receiving asks for a lot on every receipt. The worker enters or scans the lot number, and can add the expiry date and the supplier's own lot reference.
Waresify creates the lot the first time it sees that number for the item and reuses it on later receipts. Every stock movement after that, from putaway to picking, carries the lot.
Each lot has a detail page with its status, expiry date, supplier lot reference and full movement history, so a supervisor can see where a batch went.
How FEFO picking uses expiry dates
When a wave is released, the allocation engine sorts candidate stock before it reserves anything. Lots with no expiry date sort after all dated lots.
- Earliest expiry date first (FEFO)
- Then oldest received stock first (FIFO)
- Then the shortest distance to outbound staging
Which lots can be picked
Allocation only reserves stock from active lots. A lot with status QUARANTINE, EXPIRED or CONSUMED is skipped, and so is any stock outside storage zones.
You can refuse mixed lots for all locations, or set the rule per location. With mixed lots refused, putaway, transfers and replenishment will not add a different lot to a location that already holds one.
What the worker records during a count
In a cycle count of lot-tracked stock, the worker records the lot for each counted line. Scanning a GS1 label works too: Waresify reads the batch or lot from application identifier (10).
If the worker finds a different lot from the one on record, the count posts a separate discrepancy for each lot so the supervisor can correct both.
Questions
What is FEFO picking?
FEFO means first expired, first out. The warehouse ships the stock that expires soonest before newer stock. Waresify applies it automatically when lot tracking is on, then falls back to FIFO for lots with the same expiry date.
Can I track expiry dates in Waresify?
Yes. The expiry date is recorded on the lot at receipt and shown on the lot detail page. Allocation uses it to pick the earliest-expiring lot first.
What is the difference between a lot number and a serial number?
A lot number identifies a batch of many units made or delivered together. A serial number identifies exactly one unit. Lot tracking is in every plan. Serial number tracking is a separate module in the Professional tier.
Which plan includes lot tracking?
Lot tracking is in the Core tier, so every plan includes it. Pricing is announced before launch.
