Cycle Counting

Core plan and up

Cycle counting lets you count part of the warehouse at a time while picking and putaway carry on. A supervisor scopes a count by zone, location or ABC class. Workers scan each location and count blind. Variances inside your tolerance close on their own, and the rest go to a supervisor to approve, recount or override.

How cycle counting works in Waresify

A supervisor creates a count for one warehouse and scopes it by zones, locations or ABC class. Workers can be assigned up front, or claim count tasks themselves.

Locations under count get a soft lock. Allocation and putaway suggestions skip them while the count runs, so the rest of the warehouse keeps moving.

What the worker scans

The worker counts on the scanner app or the browser terminal. Blind mode is on by default, so the device does not show the system quantity before the count is submitted.

  • Scan the location barcode. A wrong location cannot be counted.
  • Scan each license plate and enter the quantity.
  • Record the lot when lot tracking is on.
  • Submit. Every expected line must be counted, and an unexpected plate is accepted as found stock.

What happens when the count does not match

Waresify compares each counted line with the stock record. You set the tolerance as an absolute quantity or a percentage. Lines within tolerance complete without review.

A variance above tolerance becomes a discrepancy and notifies the supervisors of that warehouse. The supervisor approves the count, requests a recount, or enters an override quantity. Approval posts an ADJUST movement to the stock ledger for the difference.

Questions

What is a blind count?

In a blind count the worker does not see the expected quantity. They record what is physically there, which avoids anchoring on the system number. Waresify enforces blind mode on the server, and you can turn it off for spot checks.

Do I need to stop picking during a cycle count?

No. Only the locations being counted are soft-locked, and only while their count is open. Everything else picks and puts away as normal.

What is the difference between a cycle count and a full stock take?

A full stock take counts every location at once and usually halts operations. A cycle count covers a slice of the warehouse at a time, so stock accuracy is checked continuously without a shutdown.

Which plan includes cycle counting?

Cycle counting is in the Core tier, so every plan includes it. Pricing is announced before launch.
