What is proof of delivery?

Proof of delivery is the record that a shipment reached its customer, usually a signature with the date, time and any noted damage or shortage.

Why proof of delivery matters

Many companies invoice only once the customer confirms delivery. Proof of delivery also settles disputes about short or damaged shipments.

Paper delivery notes come back days later or not at all. Capturing the confirmation electronically closes orders faster.

Worked example

In this example, a shipment of 18 cartons is dispatched at 09:00. The customer gets a confirmation link by email.

At 15:20 they confirm receipt and note 1 crushed carton. The order shows a delivery exception, and the supervisor arranges a replacement the same afternoon.

How Waresify handles it

Proof of delivery is a module on the Professional and Enterprise plans. On dispatch, the customer receives a unique link by email, with no account needed, to confirm receipt, note exceptions and sign.

A supervisor can record a paper or phone confirmation instead. Shipments end as delivered, delivery exception or delivery failed, and the ERP is notified. Proof of delivery never holds up warehouse work.

Questions

Does the customer need an account to confirm delivery?

Not in Waresify. The customer opens a unique link from the dispatch email.

What if the customer never responds?

A supervisor records the delivery from the driver's paper copy or a carrier confirmation.
