Warehouse management for electronics and spare parts

Electronics and spare parts are often tracked one unit at a time. Waresify records each serial number from receipt to shipment, keeps the record after the unit leaves, checks returned units against what was shipped, and lets a supervisor hold any plate or lot for inspection.

One record per unit

Serial number tracking can scan serials at receive, pick and ship, so Waresify knows the location of every unit. For lower-value items, boundary mode scans at receive and ship only. Suppliers can send serials ahead of the goods on an advance ship notice.

Returns and inspection

Because the serial record stays after shipment, a returned unit can be checked against what left the building. Returns are graded on arrival, and quality control can hold stock and pass, partly pass or fail it.

Modules that matter most

  • Serial Number Tracking Professional plan and up

Serial number tracking gives each physical unit its own identity and records every movement against it, from receipt to shipment and back on a return. You choose per item whether serials are scanned at receive, pick and ship, or at receive and ship only.

  • Returns Inbound Core plan and up

Returns inbound handles goods coming back from customers. A return order works like a purchase order in reverse: workers receive against it, grade the condition of each line, and a supervisor confirms whether each item is restocked, inspected, quarantined, written off or returned to the supplier.

  • Quality Control Professional plan and up

Quality control lets a supervisor put any license plate or lot on hold at any point, from inbound to an outbound pallet. Held stock is frozen and invisible to allocation. A QC worker inspects it and passes it, passes part of it, or fails it to quarantine.

  • Advance Ship Notices (ASN) Professional plan and up

Advance ship notices let a supplier's shipping manifest arrive before the truck. Waresify pre-builds the expected license plates from the manifest, so at the dock workers scan each plate to confirm it instead of counting blind, and any difference is recorded against a specific plate.

  • Cycle Counting Core plan and up

Cycle counting lets you count part of the warehouse at a time while picking and putaway carry on. A supervisor scopes a count by zone, location or ABC class. Workers scan each location and count blind. Variances inside your tolerance close on their own, and the rest go to a supervisor to approve, recount or override.

Questions

Do I have to scan serials on every item?

No. Only items flagged for serial tracking need serial scans, and each item can use full or boundary tracking.

Can I use lot tracking and serial tracking together?

Yes. A serial record can carry its lot when both modules are on.
