Warehouse management for food and beverage

Food and beverage warehouses need to know which batch went where and ship the stock that expires first. Waresify records the lot and expiry date at receipt, picks the earliest-expiring lot first, records actual weights for products sold by the kilogram, and can freeze a whole lot while it is inspected.

Expiry dates and batch traceability

With lot tracking on, every receipt records a lot number, and can record the expiry date and the supplier lot reference. The lot stays on every movement from putaway to picking, and each lot has a page with its full movement history.

When orders are released, allocation picks the earliest expiry date first (FEFO), then the oldest received stock (FIFO). Lots in quarantine or past expiry are skipped.

Products sold by weight

Cheese, meat and produce are counted in units but invoiced by weight. With variable measure, workers record the actual weight at receipt and at pick, and Waresify keeps both the unit count and the measured total for your ERP. A weight outside your tolerance alerts a supervisor.

Holds and recalls

A supervisor can put a license plate or a whole lot on QC hold at any point. Held stock drops out of allocation at once, and open picks move to the next valid plate. An inspection passes it, passes part of it or fails it to quarantine.

Modules that matter most

  • Lot Tracking Core plan and up

Lot tracking ties every unit of stock to the production batch it came from. Waresify records the lot number, expiry date and supplier lot reference when goods are received, keeps the lot on every stock movement, and allocates the lot with the earliest expiry date first when orders are picked.

  • Variable Measure / Catch Weight Professional plan and up

Variable measure, also called catch weight, handles items counted in units but sold by measurement, such as a cheese wheel sold by the kilogram. Workers record the actual weight, volume, length or area at receive and pick, and Waresify keeps both the unit count and the measured total.

  • Quality Control Professional plan and up

Quality control lets a supervisor put any license plate or lot on hold at any point, from inbound to an outbound pallet. Held stock is frozen and invisible to allocation. A QC worker inspects it and passes it, passes part of it, or fails it to quarantine.

  • Multi-UOM Support Professional plan and up

Multi-UOM lets one item be received in pallets, stored and picked in eaches, and shipped in cases. Each unit has a fixed conversion to the item's base unit. Stock is always held in the base unit, and every movement records both the unit handled and the base quantity.

  • Returns Inbound Core plan and up

Returns inbound handles goods coming back from customers. A return order works like a purchase order in reverse: workers receive against it, grade the condition of each line, and a supervisor confirms whether each item is restocked, inspected, quarantined, written off or returned to the supplier.
